About Ranakpur_

Ranakpur is a town in a Rajasthan and one of the 5 most famous pilgrimage of Jainism .Apart from this it is the most attractive tourist place in India and one of my favourite too And its situated around approx 90 km north of Udaipur .This beautiful, serene place is renowned for amazingly Jain temples constructed in amber stone around the year 1439 AD. Ranakpur is named after Rana Kumbha, the ruler of Mewar who offered his land for the construction of a temple. Inspired by a dream a Jain businessman Dharna Shah, started its construction under the patronage of Rana Kumbha. The construction continued until 1458 AD in 15th century.Best time to visit in winter months. The entire temple is constructed in a unique manner having got a plot of 48000 sq feet .The temple took over 50years to build completely. And it was invaded by mughals. There are 29 halls within the temple despite its 80 domes filled with natural light throughout the day either its open or not open. The guider say there are 1449 pillars inside the temple which is impossible to count because each one of them is different from others none are similar and you cannot take your eyes off from them .Even that the 108 kg temple bells is there could not shatter the feeling.
